"Pretty solid WordPress hosting, honestly"
My WordPress site has been running smoothly for the most part, which is such a relief because website issues can make me feel like the whole internet is collapsing around me. The hosting itself has been good, and everything loads fine most of the time. Support was okay, not mind-blowing or anything, but they helped enough to keep me from totally spiraling. Overall, I’m happy with it.

"Billing was super confusing"
I signed up thinking it was going to be one price, but then the renewals and add-ons were kind of buried until the bill showed up. I had to click around way too much just to figure out what I was actually being charged for. Support did explain it, but it still felt sneaky. Definitely not the kind of billing setup I’d feel comfortable trusting

"Such a relief when I needed it"
I had to restore my site once, i was expecting it to be stressful. But the backup options worked smoothly, and I got everything back without much trouble. I was really relieved after trying it.

"Refund took a few days, but maybe I was just being impatient"
I cancelled my hosting and requested a refund. Support was nice about it, but it did take a few days and I ended up following up once. I was starting to wonder if I was worrying too much, because the money did come back in the end without any real problem. Overall it worked out fine, though I do think the refund process could be a bit quicker.

"Pretty easy control panel to use"
I was able to find what I needed quickly in the control panel, like settings, account stuff, billing info, and a few other random options I was checking. It’s laid out in a way that makes sense, so I wasn’t clicking around forever. The only thing I noticed is that a few pages load a little slowly, like when opening certain menus or switching between sections, but overall it’s been easy to use.

"I mostly notice the downtime"
I’ll be honest, the main thing I pay attention to is whether my site is actually up when I check it, and it’s been a little shaky. It goes down more often than I expected. Support has told me it was fixed a couple of times, but then the same issue seems to pop up again later. It’s not a complete disaster, but for me, the uptime just hasn’t felt reliable enough.

"After 25 years they breached security and dropped the ball"

Our organization has maintained a long-standing relationship with Associated; however, recent experiences have raised serious concerns regarding service quality, transparency, and data security.

Despite ongoing rate increases, there has been a noticeable decline in support responsiveness and effectiveness. Requests for assistance are frequently met with delays, insufficient answers, or attempts to upsell rather than resolve issues.

Of particular concern is a potential security breach involving unauthorized access to credit card information within our system. This issue alone calls into question the company’s reliability and safeguards.

Given these factors, we can no longer recommend their services and advise others to carefully evaluate alternative providers.

I cancelled my HostGator plan last week, and to be fair, it did go through in the end. But I had to poke around the site and spend more time in chat than I really expected. The support agent was polite, just slow, and the whole process kind of made me wonder if the cancel button and refund details are kept a little too out of the way on purpose. Nothing dramatic, but it definitely could’ve been clearer from the start.

"I started out on a basic shared..."
I started out on a basic shared hostgator plan when my site was still small, and I didn’t pay much attention to the hosting as long as things kept working. Once traffic picked up, I had to upgrade, and that part went smoother than I expected. Support helped steer me toward the right plan without making it feel like a huge hassle.

The only things I really noticed were when the dashboard felt slow or a little cluttered, which got annoying at times. I’m not someone who digs into every setting, so if the main stuff works, I’m mostly happy. Overall, it handled my site’s growth well enough, so I’d give it 4 stars

"Good deal for what I needed"
I went with hostgator mainly because the price was better than a few other ones I looked at. So far, it’s been worth it. My site are small and nothing too fancy, so I didn’t want to spend a lot just to keep it up and running. The setup was simple enough, and the plan has what I need included. For the price, I’m happy with it.

"The live chat really dragged"
I tried hostgator’s live chat it just took way too long to get anywhere. The agent was nice, so I’ll give them that, but the replies were slow enough that I kept checking other stuff while waiting. And then I had to explain the same issue twice, which was kind of annoying. It wasn’t terrible support or anything, just not what you want when you’re trying to fix something quickly.

"My site load so much faster now"
I’ve been using HostGator for my small site, and the speed has been really solid. Pages loads fast, even when I’ve got images on them. I don’t feel like I need to keep checking if my site is dragging anymore. Happy with it so far.

"I will never recommend their hosting"

Shity hosting. They state uptime to be 99.9%, but it's not there. From my experience, for the last 365 days, the uptime was around 87%. We pay $300 for a dedicated server, and almost each month, the server is down for more then 1hr, with no explanation. They close the case stating that the server is now responsive and no issue can be found, with no lookback on why it happened, no explanation of the root cause.
What they do is to reply, `I understand your concerns regarding the 99.9% uptime guarantee and the recent server unresponsiveness. I have thoroughly checked the server, and it is currently online and functioning properly with no issues detected.`
In just the last 30 days, the server went down for already 4 times, one 30 min, one 1hr, another 20 min, and another 2 hrs with no explanation, nothing. And almost all of them happened during the peak business hours.

Never will I recommend anyone who takes care of their own business website uptime!!!!

"Setup took longer than I expected"
When I signed up, I thought it would be a quick process, but it ended up taking way longer than I expected. The account setup kept asking me for extra details, and then I had to wait for things to activate before I could really get going. Support did respond when I reached out, which I appreciated, but the whole experience still felt slow and a bit frustrating

"Managing domains here feels way too clunky"
I’ve used hostgator for a couple of domains, managing them has been more annoying than it should be. The dashboard just feels kind of outdated, and even simple stuff like changing DNS settings or checking renewal details takes way too many clicks.
Support did get back to me, so I’ll give them that, but it was slow, and I had to repeat what I was asking about. It’s not completely unusable or anything, but yeah, domain management really should be easier than this. I’d probably only use it if I didn’t have a better option.

"It’s easy enough to use for the most..."
It’s easy enough to use for the most part, but the menus can get confusing sometimes. I’ll be trying to find one simple thing and end up clicking around longer than I should have to. Not the worst experience, but it definitely gets a little frustrating.

“I wouldn't trust a company that was much cheaper - as far as I can remember I'm paying less than $5 per year, and I have several websites included in that deal. It used to be that you couldn't use a credit card for less than $5, so it would be ridiculous to spend hours looking for someone who charged $2.50”

“If you go straight to smartchat, it is very easy - you only need to find the smartchat button. I have worked with the Internet since web browsers were invented, so I know most of the answers already. That means that when I have a problem that I can't solve, it is going to be a real stinker for HostGator support to solve - I only bring them the difficult ones. Recently, I had an ISP who gave me terrible service, and the internet kept dropping out every few minutes. The Hostgator smartchat expert kept contact with me on and of for about an hour and three quarters until he had worked out the answer for me. That is what I call RELIABLE service.”
